Award of the Prime Minister's prize in the XXVIII edition of the competition

We would like to kindly inform you that, in accordance with the Regulation of the Prime Minister on the criteria and procedure for granting the Prime Minister's awards and the template of the application for their award, the deadline for submitting applications for 2020 is 30 April 2021.

The prizes of the Prime Minister may be awarded for:

1) an outstanding doctoral dissertation or for highly rated achievements constituting the basis for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor to a person whose doctoral degree or the degree of habilitated doctor was awarded in the year preceding the year of awarding the award,

2) achievements in the field of scientific activity, including artistic creation, or implementation activities to the person who obtained these achievements during the period of employment in the entity referred to in art. 7 sec. 1 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science, or at a foreign university or research institution. The award for achievements in the field of scientific activity, including artistic creation, or implementation activity may be awarded individually or as a team.

The rules for applying and granting awards are set out in the Regulation of the Prime Minister of 21 May 2019 (Journal of Laws of 2019, No. 976) on the criteria and procedure for granting the Prime Minister's awards and the template of the application for their award.

Please read the information related to the preparation of applications:

  • The application for awards in each category is submitted by the Rector on behalf of the university, after obtaining the consent of the university Senate.
  • The Rector may propose one candidate in a given scientific discipline for each of the awards (for an outstanding doctoral dissertation or for highly rated achievements constituting the basis for awarding the post-doctoral degree) and one candidate for an award for achievements in the field of scientific activity, including artistic creativity, or implementation activities.
  • A recommendation may be prepared by a person who is not employed at the Jagiellonian University, is not in such a legal or factual relationship with the candidate for the award, which may raise justified doubts as to its impartiality, and holds at least the degree of habilitated doctor.

Internal regulations:

Due to the formal requirements for awarding prizes, the Jagiellonian University Units, including the JU Medical College, interested in the competition, please submit one candidate in a given scientific discipline to each of the awards (for an outstanding doctoral dissertation or for highly rated achievements constituting the basis for awarding the degree of doktor habilitowany) and one candidate for an award for achievements in the field of scientific activity, including artistic creation or implementation activity from the JU unit.

The decisions to select one candidate are made by the Rector after consulting the Senate Committee for Decorations and Awards and the University Senate.

In the case of submitting a larger number of candidates for awards for an outstanding doctoral dissertation or for highly rated achievements constituting the basis for awarding the degree of doktor habilitowany within one scientific discipline and for achievements in the field of scientific activity, including artistic creation or implementation activity, the applications will be first addressed to the relevant Discipline Council for an opinion and presentation of the proposed ranking list of candidates for the Senate Committee for Decorations and Awards and the University Senate.

In connection with the above, please send the applications of candidates for the awards in the form of electronic documents to the e-mail address of the CAWP competition supervisor, while the application for the award of the Prime Minister and the justification should be accompanied by a qualified electronic signature with a graphic sign by the Head of the JU unit (Dean of the Faculty or depending on the specificity of the unit), and the remaining attachments in the form of digital reproductions (e.g. scanned documents) by 5 March 2021.

The JU unit, including the JU MC, applying for the awards, is responsible for the completeness of the application.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the preparation of the application, please contact the CAWP competition supervisor, Ms Kaja Stompór-Lesiecka, kaja.stompor@uj.edu.pl, phone:. 12 663 38 87.
