Subject of the competition:
-
an outstanding dissertation to a person whose doctoral degree was conferred in the year preceding the year of the award,
-
highly regarded achievements which were the basis for the conferral of the degree of habilitated doctor to a person whose doctoral degree was conferred in the year preceding the year in which the award was made,
-
achievements in the field of research activity, including artistic creativity or implementation activity to a person who has obtained these achievements during the period of employment in an entity referred to in Article 7.1 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science, or in a foreign university or research institution. The award for achievements for scientific activity, including artistic creation or implementation activity may be awarded either individually or as a team.
- The proposal for the awards in each category is submitted on behalf of the university by the Rector, after obtaining the approval of the University Senate.
- The Rector may nominate one candidate in a given scientific discipline for the award for an outstanding doctoral thesis and one candidate in a given scientific discipline for the award for highly regarded achievements being the basis for conferring the degree of habilitated doctor, and one candidate for an award for achievements in scientific activity, including artistic creation or implementation activity.
- The proposal must be accompanied by two recommendations. The author of the recommendation may be a person who holds at least the degree of habilitated doctor, is not employed at the same institution as the candidate for the award, has not been a supervisor or reviewer in any proceedings for conferring the degree of doctor or habilitated doctor on the candidate for the award, and is not in such a legal or factual relationship with the candidate for the award that there could be justified doubts as to his or her impartiality.

1) Outstanding doctoral dissertation |
a) a proposal for the Prime Minister’s Award, prepared in accordance with the specimen appended to the Regulation;
b) justification of the proposal signed by the Head of the organisational unit of Jagiellonian University (i.e. the Dean, Director/Manager of another organisational unit) in accordance with § 7.4 of the Regulation;
c) a doctoral dissertation along with the reviews obtained in the proceedings for the award of the doctoral degree and a resolution on distinction;
d) two recommendations drawn up in connection with the proposal (preferably in Polish or English);
e) other documents relevant to the justification of the award, in particular information on distinctions and awards received by the candidate at home or abroad;
f) a declaration by the candidate that he/she has no criminal record for an intentional or deliberate fiscal offence or a disciplinary penalty;
g) an information clause signed by the candidate concerning the processing of personal data in order to be granted the Prime Minister’s Award for outstanding doctoral dissertations, highly regarded achievements being the basis for granting the degree of habilitated doctor or achievements in scientific or implementation activity. Template information clause is attached as Annex 1 to this Communication.

2) Highly commended achievements being the basis for awarding the degree of habilitated doctor |
a) a proposal for the Prime Minister’s Award, prepared in accordance with the specimen appended to the Regulation;
b) justification of the proposal signed by the Head of the organisational unit of Jagiellonian University (i.e. the Dean, Director/Manager of another organisational unit) in accordance with § 7.4 of the Regulation;
c) information on the achievements which were the basis for the conferment of the degree of habilitated doctor, along with the reviews obtained in the procedure for the conferment of the degree of habilitated doctor, the monographs or articles which were the basis for the conferment of the degree of habilitated doctor, and the opinion (conclusions) of the habilitation committee;
d) two recommendations prepared in connection with the proposal in accordance with § 7 sections 5-7 of the Regulation (preferably recommendations in Polish or English);
e) other documents relevant to the justification of the award, in particular information on distinctions and awards received by the candidate at home or abroad;
f) a declaration by the candidate that he/she has no criminal record for an intentional or deliberate fiscal offence or a disciplinary penalty;
g) an information clause signed by the candidate concerning the processing of personal data in order to be granted the Prime Minister’s Award for outstanding doctoral dissertations, highly regarded achievements being the basis for granting the degree of habilitated doctor or achievements in scientific or implementation activity. 3) Achievements in the field of research activity, including artistic creation, or implementation activity

a) a proposal for the Prime Minister’s Award, prepared in accordance with the specimen appended to the Regulation;
b) justification of the proposal signed by the Head of the organisational unit of Jagiellonian University (i.e. the Dean, Director/Manager of another organisational unit) in accordance with § 7.4;
c) selected publications, patents, self-references of the candidate(s) for the award
d) a review of a scientific, artistic or implementation achievement, prepared by a person holding a professorial or artistic title appointed by the applicant, taking into account the citation index, excluding self-citations;
e) two recommendations drawn up in connection with the proposal (preferably in Polish or English);
f) other documents relevant to the justification of the award, in particular information on distinctions and awards received by the candidate(s) at home or abroad;
g) a declaration by the candidate(s) that they have no criminal record for an intentional or deliberate fiscal offence or a disciplinary penalty;
h) an information clause signed by the candidate concerning the processing of personal data in order to be granted the Prime Minister’s Award for outstanding doctoral dissertations, highly regarded achievements being the basis for granting the degree of habilitated doctor or achievements in scientific or implementation activity. Due to the formal requirements of the awards, JU Units, including JU MC units interested in the call, please submit one candidate in a given scientific discipline for awards for an outstanding doctoral thesis or for highly recognised achievements being the basis for awarding a postdoctoral degree, and one candidate for an award for achievements in scientific activity, including artistic creativity or implementation activity from a JU unit.
In view of the above, you are asked to send your applications of the candidates to the awards by 18 March 2024 in the form of electronic documents to the e-mail address of the call assistant at the JU RSC, with the application for the Prime Minister's Award and the justification being accompanied by a qualified electronic signature with a graphic mark by the Head of the UJ organisational unit (i.e. Dean, Director/Head of another organisational unit).
