Subject of the competition:
This is to inform you that the European Research Council has launched a call for proposals for the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant call under Horizon Europe (call identifier: ERC-2024-ADG).
ERC Advanced Grants aim to empower outstanding researchers at a career stage of being recognised authorities in their research field, with experience in leading a research team. The programme is addressed to researchers with above-average research achievements, whose ambitious projects will be groundbreaking.
Proposal evaluation is carried out in two stages. In the second stage, the authors of the proposals will be invited to an interview.
The call for proposals is open until 29 August 2024, 5 p.m. UTC+1.
- Eligible applicants are researchers who, being active researchers, can demonstrate significant research achievements from the last 10 years of their careers.
- The project may be carried out at a freely chosen host institution, provided that it is based in an EU country or a country associated with the Horizon Europe programme. It may also be carried out at an international European research organisation (e.g. CERN), the EU Joint Research Centre (JRC) or other entity established under the EU law.
- The projects may deal with any research domain. Project subjects are chosen by the applicants.
- Highly appreciated will be interdisciplinary projects with high levels of risk, leading to important discoveries and groundbreaking results.
- Proposals that are negatively assessed result in a one- or two-year grace period for resubmission.
- The principal investigator in an ERC Advanced Grant is required to spend at least 50% of the project's working time at an EU or EU-associated country, and to allocate at least 50% of their working time for the implementation of a project.
- The funding will cover 100% of project costs.
- The maximum amount of funding for a project is €2.5 million (up to €3.5 million under certain conditions) for projects lasting up to five years.
- Indirect costs make for 25% of direct costs with the exception of the headings Subcontracting costs and Internally invoiced goods and services
- Proposals must be submitted only electronically via the Funding & Tender Portal (https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/home).
- Applicants in the call are required to name in the Funding & tender opportunities portal the call assistant at the RSC as the contact for JU.
