Call description:

The Minister Scholarship for outstanding young researchers may be granted to any young researcher with significant research achievements as specified in § 5.1 of the Ordinance by the Minister of Education and Science (Journal of Laws item 428 of 2022).

A prospective entrant in the call for outstanding young researchers is a person, “young researcher”, conducting research activity, who:

  • is a doctoral student or academic teacher – and is not a holder of doctorate or o have held doctorate for no more than 7 years 
  • employed at a higher education system entity 

PLEASE NOTE:

  • the employment referred to above shall be understood as employment under an employment contract
  • the above mentioned period does not include years of maternity leave, adoption leave, paternity leave, parental leave or child-care leave, granted on terms specified in the Act of 26 June 1974, Labour Code, the periods of receiving maternity allowance or parental benefits, periods of receiving sick pay or rehabilitation benefit on account of incapacity to work, including incapacity caused by a condition requiring medical rehabilitation
  • the period of 7 years is counted from the date (and not from the year) of obtaining the doctoral degree
  • The status of the young researcher shall be verified both on the day of submitting the application and on the day of the Minister's decision to award the scholarship.
  • The scholarship may be awarded for a period no longer than 3 years (36 months).
  • Funding per grant may not exceed PLN 5,390 per month. The amount of the scholarship and the period of its payment will be specified in the funding decision by the Ministry
  • One may be a recipient of the scholarship only once. The scholarship for a young researcher may not be awarded to a young researcher who has been awarded in previous years a scholarship for young researchers or a scholarship for outstanding young researchers, pursuant to Article 28a.1 of the Act of 30 April 2010 on the principles of funding science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 87).
  • Considered in review will be achievements from before 30 November of the year in which the proposal is submitted (i.e. 30 November 2022).
  • In review of the scholarship proposals taken into consideration will be criteria specified in § 11.1 point 3-5 of the Ministry Ordinance.
  • The scholarship proposals are reviewed by 30 June of the year following the year of their submission (i.e. by 30 June 2023).

Deadline for submission of applications:

The call for applications at the MEiN runs until December 31, 2022.

Form of submitting proposals:

  • The proposal must be completed in the ZSUN/OSF system. A template proposal is available as Annex 2 to the announcement by the Minister of Education and Science 
  • Before sending the proposal to the ministry, a PDF file generated in the ZSUN/OSF system must be signed with a qualified electronic signature by the head of the entity submitting the proposal or by an authorised representative (i.e. JU Vice-rector for Research).
  • The signed scholarship application is sent in the ZSUN/OSF system by the applicant (the candidate). Along with the scholarship application in the ZSUN/OSF system, documents certifying significant achievements in research and documents certifying breaks in research activity (if applicable) and other required declarations must be submitted.

  • Basic data of the entity (JU) required for the completion of the proposal are available on the website of the RSC
  • The proposal must include an ePUAP office mail box address: /uj/CAWP
  • In the form, in the space reserved for the data of the person signing the proposal, the following data should be entered:

  • The power of attorney for the person authorised to sign the proposal will be sent to the candidates by the call assistants in order to attach to the proposal in the system before its final closure.
  • Signatures provided on declarations attached to the proposal must be either qualified electronic signatures or handwritten signatures, it is not allowed to place on the documents a pasted scan of the signature of the person making the declaration.

JU internal regulations:

Pursuant to the Ordinance no  56 of JU Rector 11 July 2016 on: the procedure for drawing up and implementing projects funded from external sources at Jagiellonian University persons interested in entering the call are asked to deliver to the RSC:

  • by 14 December 2022 a proposal draft (electronic version sent as a pdf file to the address of the call assistant at the RSC for the purposes of review and verification of formal eligibility);
  • by 27 December 2022 a final version of the proposal alongside the required annexes including declarations. The proposal should be signed with electronic signature by the head of JU organisational entity (i.e. Dean, Director/Head of other organisational entity), and the declarations signed by hand or with a qualified signature by the candidate

Only once a proposal has been supported with a document signed by JU authorities in the ZSUN/OSF system can it be submitted electronically.

The proposal approved by JU authorities will be delivered by the call assistant at the RSC to the email addresses you have specified.

The candidate must send electronically the complete proposal form along with required annexes in the ZSUN/ OSF system. 

The proposals must be submitted in the system no later than 31 December 2022.

Out of concern for the quality of the submitted proposals, especially in terms of meeting formal requirements, you are encouraged to consult your proposals and to deliver the documents to the CWN well ahead of the above mentioned deadlines.
