STUDENT RESEARCH SOCIETIES RAISE INNOVATION

The call seeks to support student research societies active at universities in:

  • carrying out scientific research or development works, in particular those aimed at creating or modernising technologies or technical solutions and at promoting their results,
  • transferring the results of scientific research or development works to the economic sphere,
  • acquisition by members of these societies of soft skills needed to conduct scientific research or development works and promotion of their results, in particular within the scope of commercialisation of these results and related know-how, teamwork and public speaking,
  • purchase of certificates and licences required in the process of commercialisation of research results or development works and related know-how, – to provide assistance to student research societies in conducting innovative projects and improving the quality of their activities, as well as to enhance the mechanism of commercial transfer of technology and solutions developed over the course of their activities

Call essentials:

  • A project shall be implemented up to 12 months.
  • the amount of funding or co-funding per project may not exceed PLN 70,000 (it is acceptable to enter the call with own financial contribution, which is not obligatory),
  • funding proposals may be submitted by research societies which:
    • have taken part, in the period of 24 months preceding the month of proposal submission, in international calls for research or science-and-technology projects, inviting research societies at universities,
    • have not taken part, in the period of 24 months preceding the month of proposal submission, in international calls for research or science-and-technology projects, inviting research societies at universities.

Form of submitting proposals:

The proposals are submitted in the system Zintegrowany System Usług dla Nauki – Obsługa Strumieni Finansowania (ZSUN/OSF). Bear in mind that “Part A” of the proposal, generated by the system, requires approval by JU or JUMC authorities. The proposal drafted in the ZSUN/OSF system shall be sent only upon securing the required signatures on the final version and on “Part A”. Information on granting approval to a proposal by JU or JUMC authorities will be communicated by a call assistant:

  • at the Research Support Centre, for projects submitted by JU student research societies,
  • at the Research Department, for projects submitted by JUMC student research societies. 

JU internal regulations:

In view of the fact that under the call one university may submit up to 13 proposals (one for each of society separately if there are 13 societies, including 10 proposals for societies with experience in international calls, and 3 for societies without such experience), please submit no later than 17 October 2022, 12:00 p.m. declarations of application in the call drafted in accordance with the template attached as Annex 1 to this Communication. One student research society may submit one project proposal.

Project proposals may be submitted electronically (a PDF document signed with a qualified electronic signature or in the form of a scan with a handwritten signature alongside a version of the proposal open to editing). signatures required: project author, supervisor of the student research society and the head of the JU organisational entity (i.e. Dean or Director/Head of other organisational entity) acting as the project’s host institution.

Please send Jagiellonian University research societies’ project proposals to the address of the call assistant at the RSC: patrycja.dabrowska@uj.edu.pl,, whereas those by JU Medical College to the address of the Research Department at JUMC: spk_cm@uj.edu.pl. Based on the declarations submitted, Jagiellonian University authorities will decide on the mode of further processing of the proposals. The call assistant at the CWN or the Research Department at JUMC shall inform you of the decision of JU authorities. 

Upon securing approval of the planned project:

  • for JU research societies, pursuant to the Ordinance no 56 of JU Rector of 11 2016 on: The procedure for drawing up and implementing projects funded from external sources at Jagiellonian University persons interested in entering the call are asked to deliver to the RSC:
    • by 3 November 2022:
      • a proposal draft sent in as a pdf file generated by the ZSUN/OSF system for the purposes of review and verification of formal eligibility;
      • a Research Project Entry Form and a VAT Eligibility Form filled out in the electronic system JU Project Zone at: https://strefaprojektow.uj.edu.pl/;
    • by 9 November 2022 the final version of the proposal (signatures required: Project author, supervisor of the student research society and the head of the JU organisational entity (i.e. Dean or Director/Head of other organisational entity acting as the project’s host institution) , in the form of a pdf file generated by the ZSUN/OSF system: select option “Print PDF - status” named in accordance with the template: Surname and given name of the principal investigator, name of the programme, date of the document (Kowalski_Jan_Koła Naukowe_09-11-2022) and the “Part A” of the proposal select option “print PDF - to sign” (without signatures) named in accordance with the template: Surname and given name of the principal investigator, name of the programme, the “Part A” of the document, date of the document (Kowalski_Jan_Koła Naukowe_czescA_09-11-2022);
    • for JUMC research societies The call assistant at the Research Department will contact the representative of the society to determine individual dates for delivery of project documentation (i.e. a research project entry form, a VAT eligibility form, project statistical data, and a draft and the final versions of the proposal).
