Purpose of the call:

  • A scholarship for outstanding young scientists may be applied for by a person who:
    • is a doctoral student or academic teacher - and does not have a doctoral degree or
    • holds a doctoral degree, which was awarded within 7 years and is employed in an entity belonging to the higher education system (e.g. a university). The period referred to above does not include periods of maternity leave, leave under conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or child care leave, granted under the rules laid down in the Act of 26 June 1974, the Labour Code, or periods of receiving allowances for work-related problems. - The scholarship is awarded for periods of maternity leave under the conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or parental leave granted under the rules set out in the Labour Code Act of 26 June 1974, or periods of receiving maternity benefit or parental benefit, or periods of receiving sick pay or rehabilitation benefit in connection with inability to work, including those caused by illness requiring medical rehabilitation.
  • The scholarship may be awarded for a maximum period of no more than 3 years (36 months).
  • The maximum amount of funding may not exceed PLN 5,390 per month. The amount of the scholarship and the period of its receipt will be indicated in the decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
  • The scholarship may be awarded only once.
  • The scholarship for a young scientist cannot be awarded to a young scientist who in previous years was granted a scholarship for young scientists or a scientific scholarship for outstanding young scientists under Article 28a, paragraph 1 of the Act of 30 April 2010 on the principles of financing science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 87).
  • The evaluation of applications takes into account achievements obtained until 30 November of the year in which the application is submitted (i.e. until 30 November 2021).
  • The evaluation of scholarship applications will take into account the criteria set out in § 11 sections 3-5 of the MEiN Regulation.
  • Scholarship applications are considered until 30 June - the year following the year in which they are submitted (i.e. until 30 June 2022).
  • Basic data of the unit (UJ) necessary to complete the application are available on the CWN website: cawp.uj.edu.pl/projekty/dla-wnioskujacych/dokumenty.

Application deadline:

December 1 to December 31, 2021. (CWN deadline December 14, 2021).

UJ Internal Regulations:
In accordance with the Order No. 56 of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University of 11 July 2016 on: Rules of Procedure for the Preparation and Implementation of Externally Funded Projects at the Jagiellonian University, persons interested in participating in the competition please submit to CWN:

  • by 14 December 2021 a draft version of the application (electronic version of the application as a PDF file) to the address of the competition supervisor in CWN, in order to check and verify that it meets the formal requirements of the competition;
  • by 27 December 2021 the final version of the application in the form of a full version of the application with signatures of the person submitting the application and the head of UJ organizational unit (Dean or Director/Director of another organizational unit) - the competition supervisors in CWN will inform the interested persons about the form and method of submitting the application to be signed by UJ authorities.

An electronic application can be sent only after a document signed by the UJ Authorities is attached to it in the ZSUN/OSF system.
The aforementioned document signed electronically by UJ authorities will be sent to the e-mail addresses provided by the competition coordinators in CWN.
The application must be submitted in the ZSUN/OSF system no later than December 31, 2021.
