The academic degree of doktor is conferred in a field of science and in a discipline of science. The academic degree of doktor may be conferred in a field of science in the case referred to in Article 177.6 of the Act of 20 July 2018: Law on higher education and science.

The degree of doktor in a field of science and in a discipline of science

Jagiellonian University is authorised to confer the academic degree of doktor in 31 disciplines.

The Jagiellonian University’s power to confer the academic degree of doktor in a discipline is exercised by the research discipline councils.

Pursuant to the Procedure of proceedings for the conferment of academic degrees at Jagiellonian University, a request for initiating the proceeding for the conferment of the academic degree of doktor shall be submitted to an appropriate research discipline council at the Dean’s office of an appropriate faculty which provides administrative assistance for this research discipline council. A person applying for the academic degree of doktor in the extramural mode, before submitting the request for initiating the proceeding, shall submit a request to the research discipline council appropriate to the thematic scope of their dissertation for appointing a supervisor or supervisors.

The Jagiellonian University’s power to confer the degree of doktor in a field is exercised by the Senate of Jagiellonian University.

Pursuant to the procedure of proceedings for the conferment of academic degrees at Jagiellonian University a request for the conferment of the academic degree of doktor in a field shall be submitted to the Research Assistance Service in the Research Support Centre, 31-110 Kraków, ul.
