Call purpose:

Call for research project funding proposals, with a principal objective of increasing the use of the results of social and economic research in shaping national and regional development policies in the time horizon of 2028.

Terms of the call:

  • Prospective entrants in the call are consortia composed solely of enterprises, research entities, and entities implementing. A consortium may comprise of minimum 3 and maximum 5 entities. A leader of a consortium may be an entity implementing or a research entity.
  • The NCBR grants funding to the projects that cover: basic research, industrial research, development work, pre-implementation work. A project in which no pre-implementation work has been planned may not receive funding.
  • A project may include several research problems, with one main research problem concerning project being indicated (annex 2 to the call’s terms and conditions)
  • The maximum project duration is 36 months. A project may cover PHASE A (basic research, industrial research, development work) and PHASE B (pre-implementation work) or PHASE B solely.
  • It is not possible to receive funds by the NCBiR for tasks carried out by the entities implementing which are budget entities.
  • The minimum amount of eligible costs in a project is PLN 1 million and maximum PLN 8 million.
  • The level of funding for research entities is up to 100% of eligible costs.
  • Indirect costs are settled using a flat rate of 25% of the direct costs (subcontracting costs not included).
  • Project’s results shall be implemented within 3 years of the completion of the project. 

Form of submitting proposals:

Only electronic funding proposals will be accepted, sent through the LSI system. The system will be available from 20 June to 20 September 2022, 4 p.m. In light of the above, the proposal in electronic form should be sent only once the approval by the university authorities has been secured. Information on the approval of the proposal by JU authorities will be delivered by a call assistant at the Research Support Centre.

JU internal regulations:

1. In view of the project funding agreement’s provisions (annex 11 to the call’s terms and conditions) assuming joint and several liability of the partners for the implementation of the project, the Authors/Project Principal Investigator are obliged to submit their willingness to participate in the competition in advance. Please submit preliminary declarations of participation in the call alongside information on the title of the project, expected members of the consortium, scope of work to be covered by JU and budget planned, including JU’s part, by email no later than 20 July 2022, to the call assistant at the RSC) Based on the declarations you will have submitted, Jagiellonian University authorities will decide on the further course of application in the call. The call assistant at the RSC shall inform you of the decision of JU authorities.

2. Upon securing approval of the planned project, pursuant to the Ordinance no 56 of JU Rector of 11 July 2016 on: The procedure for drawing up and implementing projects funded from external sources at Jagiellonian University persons interested in entering the call are asked to deliver to the RSC:

  • by 8 August 2022 to the call assistant at the RSC:
    •  a draft agreement, in the event that JU acts as a partner to the project, and the leader has a template agreement of their own,
    • guidelines for drafting agreement, in the event that JU acts as a leader to the project, in order to draft a template consortium agreement,
  • by 8 September 2022:
    • a proposal draft (electronic version sent as a pdf file to the address of the call assistant at the CWN) for the purposes of review and verification of formal and accountancy eligibility;
    • a research project entry form and a VAT eligibility form filled out in the electronic system JU Project Zone at: https://strefaprojektow.uj.edu.pl/.
  • by 14 September 2022 the final version of the proposal (electronic version sent in as a pdf file signed with a qualified electronic signature or a hard copy signed with handwritten signatures) – signatures required: project author and the head of the JU organisational entity (i.e. Dean or Director/Head of other organisational entity) acting as the project’s host institution.
