Subject of the call:

Joint undertaking of NCBR and PKN ORLEN consisting in support of scientific research and development works for the refinery and petrochemical industry

Competition I relates to the specific objective - Development of solutions and technologies related to obtaining and processing biomass. This objective is implemented through: the following research issues:

  • Issue I.1: Systems of production and selection of biomass with the use of CO2 offset
  • Issue I.2: Technologies of producing advanced biocomponents with the use of raw materials described in Annex IXA to RED II directive and predicted changes in the regulations of RED III directive
  • Issue I.3.: Biological and biochemical technologies for obtaining hydrogen

Budget: The allocation foreseen for the 1st competition is 35 mln PLN.

Funding: The support intensity (funding value) for research units that are not enterprises for the implementation of the work in the project is 100% of eligible costs, for enterprises in accordance with state aid.

Other important information about the competition:

In case PKN ORLEN decides to implement the Project Result in the activity of PKN ORLEN, the Contractor will be obliged to transfer its share in the joint right to the Project Result to PKN ORLEN, with the price for the transfer of the share being equal to the value of the Contractor's financial share in the total amount of eligible costs (own contribution and NCRD funding), and in case of doubt the confirmation of the marketability of the price will be made by an expert.
In case PKN ORLEN decides not to implement the Project Results, the Contractor is obliged to implement the Project Results by:

  1. incorporation of the Project Results into own business by starting the production or provision of services on the basis of the obtained Project Results or
    granting a license (on market terms) for the use of the Project Results to third parties, where the persons entitled to grant the license for the use of the Project Results to third parties are PKN ORLEN and the Contractor, and where the benefits derived from granting the license are subject to distribution in proportion to the share of particular co-owners in common rights to the Project Results or
    sale (on market terms) of rights to the Project Results in order to introduce them into the business activity of another entrepreneur. The obligation to incorporate the Project Results into a business activity does not apply when the purchaser of rights is PKN ORLEN.

IMPORTANCE:

Due to the stipulations of the project grant agreement assuming joint and several liability of the partners for the project implementation, we kindly ask for declarations of participation in the project by May 31 this year. 

Initial declarations of participation in the project along with the information including the project title, the planned composition of the consortium, the scope of work for the Jagiellonian University and the planned budget, including the part for the Jagiellonian University, should be sent by e-mail to the competition coordinator at CWN.

After their analysis, the Authorities of the Jagiellonian University will decide whether to allow the application in the competition.
