Subject of the call:

Joint undertaking of NCBR - PKP PLK S.A consisting in support of scientific research and development works in the area of railroad infrastructure titled Research and Development in Railway Infrastructure - BRIK, competition II.

The implementation of the BRIK Joint Undertaking will contribute to improving the technical condition of the railroad network, reducing the negative impact of railroad transport on the environment, more efficient maintenance and modernization of the railroad infrastructure, and improving safety. Moreover, the implementation of the Joint Undertaking will make it possible to develop innovative information systems, which will increase the competitiveness of rail transport in relation to other means of transport. At the same time, it is assumed that the implementation of the results of research and development projects carried out under the Joint Undertaking will positively affect the financial performance of PLK S.A. by providing modern solutions optimizing the costs of railroad infrastructure management.

The main objective of the Undertaking is to increase the innovativeness and competitiveness of rail transport by 2033. The specific objectives are:

  • Increase in R&D activity in the area of railroad infrastructure.
  • Increase in the number of innovative solutions in the area of railroad infrastructure.
  • Improving the efficiency of railroad infrastructure operation and management.
  • Reduction of negative impact of railroad transport on environment.

For whom:

Only consortia may enter the competition.

 A consortium may consist of:

  • at least one scientific entity, and at least one enterprise, or
  • at least two scientific entities.
  • A consortium may consist of no more than 5 entities

The leader of a consortium may be only a scientific unit

The competition cannot be entered by entities related to or partnered with PKP PLK S.A. within the meaning of Annex 1 to Regulation 651/2014.

Application Deadline:

The application must be uploaded in the LSI system no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 31, 2022.

Form of Application Submission:

Grant applications must be submitted electronically in the LSI system only. (The possibility to submit applications will be activated from 28 January 2022).
